Saturday morning walk

It's been 2 days since Mad and I did weights with Kathy. My arms still hurt. Obviously, I need more 'cross training.'

I teach Criminal Law on Saturdays from 9 - 12. That, coupled with a bridal shower for my neice Liz, made Saturday a very busy day. One which would not accomodate a 5 - 6 mile walk all at once. Happily, the helpful folks on the 3 day web site have assured me that I can break a walk up into two segments, and it still 'counts.' I got up at 6, and headed out the door 3 diffferent times before I actually had all I needed: cell phone, camera, driver's licence, bank card (I needed milk). Note to self: Consider putting these things together BY THE DOOR the night before. . .

I didn't bring the fancy camera (too heavy) and my Cannon PowerShot doesn't give this full moon justice. It's the orange dot in the middle of the photo. And a whole lot bigger in 'real life' than in this pic! That said, it was really cool. (Insert your own memory of an early morning walk, greeted by a full moon, here)

I took a tumble walking up this hill - because I was being nosy! I was staring into the backyard of one of my neighbors, trying to figure out if their garage had an apartment above it, when the sidewalk shifted and I caught my toe on the lip. Stumbled. Fell. Got up. Brushed off my dignity. Moved on.

This is a pic of the high bridge. I was trying to get a shot of the lights reflecting on the river. Maybe I will bring the good camera next time. . .

Ah, the sunrise. Taken from the high bridge. My batteries were dying, so that's my last pic for this walk. I got in almost 4 miles before class. There was positively no one in downtown this morning. I realized, too late, that I should have walked over the Robert Street bridge and gone to the Farmer's Market for eggs. Next week, that might be my route. We'll see.
I stopped to get milk at the convenience store at the bottom of the hill. It was about 7:15 a.m. The two clerks were talking. One was complaining that she was due the week before prom, and even though she had a dress, she just couldn't go because she looked like a whale! The other told her that she was a week overdue at prom, and she just couldn't justify spending $500.00 on a dress and all, when she was so pregnant. "That kid just didn't want to come out!" she said. In my day, teen pregnancy and the prom were mutually exclusive. I felt very, very old.
Post bridal shower, I got in another 2 miles. Mr. J joined me on this walk. He suggested, since we were going by Boca Chica anyway, that we stop for a margarita and some chile con queso and guac. Well, now. There certainly is precedence for such a stop. Mad walked to Starbucks over on Grand Avenue for her 5.5 mile walk and got herself an iced coffee. I must say that no where on the planet can you find a margarita as fabulous as those served at Boca Chica on the west side of Saint Paul. It was a lovely way to finish the walk.
