Best laid plans

Mad and I were scheduled to do a 6 mile walk on Sunday. Our plan was to walk from our downtown hotel to the Aquarium, which opened at 9. Spend some time at the aquarium. Then walk back, probably a bit wandering so as to get in the 6 miles.

Cool fountain. We took a minute to take this pic, but we were distracted by the incredible number of people wearing pink shirts.

Imagine our surprise! I suppose I could have figured out that Minnesota wasn't the only place that might have a Mother's Day walk. We arrived just as the last walkers were crossing the finish line.

There were all sorts of booths set up. Naturally, we abandoned our plans to see the Aquarium and walked around the booths. This race wasn't for the Susan G. Komen Foundation, but rather for Breast Cancer Network of Strength (formerly known as Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization). Among other booths, we found one that will donate fifteen cents per mile walked. We're walking the miles anyway, so we signed up. You can, too. Go to http://www.beewellmiles.com/. It has some really cool features.

As you can see, refreshments were offered to the walkers. Mad and I, having just started our walk, were still in possession of our water from the hotel.

Mad at the McDonald's arches. They were giving away cookies and toys. We declined.

Yeah, I did eventually go back to the walkway for this pic.

6 miles logged.

The odd thing is, I'm not nearly as exhausted as I was a few weeks ago when Mad and I did 7 then 6. Yeah!
